There are three main ‘subject areas’ that make up what is commonly referred to as Elder Law, which include
- Estate Planning, including the administration and taxation of estates;
- Medicaid, Disability and related long term healthcare and care issues; and
- Guardianship, conservatorship as well as what is termed as fiduciary administration.
Naturally these areas of focus in terms of Elder Law can be somewhat complicated, which motivates why both elders and families need to be fully aware of the laws and processes involved within the ‘process’ of aging.
